In 1937 or 1939 in the native town of baron there was opened a museum dedicated to Munchausen. This museum is one of the most important objects of tourism in town. The financial support of the museum of the famous narrator is one of the main tasks of the Association of Munchausen's friends.

The friends of Baron Munchausen - a poet, specialist in literature and journalist Sergey Makeyev ( the leader), historians Leonid Levin, Alexander Capitonov ( and others) have made vast research work in the field of munchausology, published books, aranged exhibitions, unveiled a mounement dedicated to Munchausen at the subway station "Moldozhnaya" and created a virtual "Museum of Baron Munchausen".

In 2002 the linguist Vladimir Nagovitsin published a book about Munchausen "The unusual adventures of Baron Munchausen's grand grandson at the turn of the millennium". On 22nd February 2003 in the Republic of Kabardino - Balkaria Vladimir Nagova - Munchausen founded the first extreme museum ( 50 km from Elbrus) dedicated to baron Munchausen and created a home - page.
