"... I' ve been remembered for centuries here... it's really pleasant..." / Munchausen/
On 32nd May 2005 Hieronymus Karl Friedrich von Munchausen at the age of 285 has returned to his manor house in Dunte where there is a museum now. The museum has been built precisely in the same spot where the manor house of Baron Munchausen was placed in 18th century.
Previously Munchausen had to dwell in another place and other rooms. At the begining of 1990's in Dunte where folk museum was placed, the specilaists of museum in cooperation with professor Gunars Pakalns prepared a small exhibition about the man from the same district Hieronymus Karl Friedrich von Munchausen. The exhibition was really well attended.
In 1999 the museum was taken over by Liepupe parish. The rooms of the museum were enlarged, the project included the opening of Munchausen's inn but unfortunately in 2001 the building was destroyed by the fire. After the fire the parish of Liepupe opened a temporary exhibition of Munchausen at Liepupe parish house.
In 2004 the museum was taken over by new owners "Minhauzena pasaule" ( "'Munchausen's worl" ) Ltd. and a new exhibition named "Travelling in time together with Munchausen" was open in Liepupe parish house already on 1st April 2004. In autumn 2004 a fundament for the new building of Munchausen's museum was built. The two businessman Ivars Strautiņš and Atis Sausnītis invested a great work and finances to preserve this multicultural project. From the begining the house of the landlord of Dunte was rebuilt and arranged as the Munchausen's museum. In the complex of Munchausen's manor house - museum includes also Munchausen's natures trail.
The past arouses for the future...
